Pharmaprix welcomes the agreement in principle reached between pharmacist owners and the Gouvernement du Québec

MONTRÉAL (Québec), July 13, 2026 – Pharmaprix welcomes the recent agreement in principle reached between the Gouvernement du Québec and pharmacist owners, as well as the adoption of Bill 67 and the establishment of a remuneration framework supporting the rollout of expanded pharmacy scope of pratice. Pharmaprix reaffirms its commitment to supporting the implementation of these advancements and to contributing to the continued evolution of primary healthcare in Québec.

By establishing the framework for the gradual rollout of new clinical services, the agreement marks an important step toward improving access to care, strengthening pharmacists' professional autonomy and enabling them to put their expertise to work for patients. Once fully implemented, this expanded scope of practice will position Québec pharmacists among the national leaders in the breadth of clinical care they are able to provide within their communities.

For several years, Pharmaprix has been investing to support the evolution of pharmacy practice in Québec. This commitment includes donations and scholarships for academic institutions, the rollout of dozens of innovative pharmacy care clinics across its network, and the tools, resources and support provided to pharmacist owners to help integrate new clinical services into their practices.

"We welcome the Gouvernement du Quebec and pharmacist owners for reaching this important agreement, which creates the conditions for pharmacists to play an even greater role in delivering care to their patients. Enabling pharmacists to practice to the full extent of their expertise will help improve access to primary care, while reducing pressure on emergency departments and the broader healthcare system." said Gregers Wedell-Wedellsborg, President, Pharmaprix.

Pharmaprix will continue working closely with pharmacist owners and healthcare system partners to support the implementation of new clinical services and help improve access to community-based care across Québec. As the regulatory framework comes into effect, these new services will be introduced progressively across the network, according to the realities of each pharmacy.
